About Maryland Black Ice Fastpitch

At Maryland Black Ice, we believe softball is more than just a game—it’s an opportunity to build confidence, character, community, and forge lifelong friendships and memories. Many of the coaches in our program not only coach their own team, but also assist with pitching, catching, and hitting practice, and open practice sessions and scrimmages for multiple age groups.

We emphasize a supportive, family-like environment where players learn the value of hard work, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Our mission goes beyond wins and losses: we focus on developing skills, knowledge, and game IQ that prepares our athletes to succeed at the next level, including high school competition and beyond.

Through structured practices, individualized attention, and a commitment to teaching fundamentals, we help players grow both on and off the field. By fostering a positive and supportive community and creating a foundation of accountability and respect, we prepare athletes not only to excel in softball but also to thrive as leaders in their schools and communities.

We also value community and fun, and make time for social gatherings for teams and the organization. Some of our Black Ice Fastpitch community opportunities include:

• Pitching and catching clinics
• Foul Ball Fridays (open batting practice Friday nights for the girls and social hour for the parents)
• Cook-outs
• Movie nights
• Team bonding outings
• Fundraisers and corporate sponsorships
